November Favourites 2014

Good Sunday my Leaves,

How are you all today? Have you enjoyed the final month of Autumn? I know I have! As much as I will be sad to see it go, I'm excited to watch all the trees close up shop and then prepare for Spring :) The nights are so dark here now and I'm almost at the point where I drive both to and from work in the dark with my lights on :( As comforting as the darkness can be sometimes it does make work a little more draining as you feel you have worked for all the day light hours and missed the day itself. I've taken to going for a little wander at lunch just to catch a bit of sunlight :)

The end of the month does mean good things though, monthly favourites! So without further ramble here are the items that have made my November extra lovely :)

Bonfire Night

One of my favourite events of the year! I just love the colour and the atmosphere which I tried to describe in an earlier post. I enjoyed it so much it gets an extra mention in this post :)

My Notebook

Where I keep all my blogging activities and ideas. This is how I keep track of each theme for the month and what I want to mention in each post :) Other than that, its really pretty and appealing :) Made from lots of different textures, this notebook is part of the 'Inspired' range which supports the Victoria & Albert Museum in London :)

Amazon

An odd one to mention but I honestly don't know where I would be without this company! I purchase A LOT from this site and they have never let me down yet! I especially like that they now have lockers in shops near me so I don't have to worry about missing a delivery :)

Oat So Simple Morning Bars

Fruit is now too cold, in my opinion, to eat for breakfast so I've been on the hunt for a good, warming breakfast bar. These oath little things are scummy even thought they look dauntingly healthy :) I usually eat them as a breakfast or mid morning snack :)

Yankee Candles

I've mentioned Yankee Candles before but when I saw the Christmas range I immediately reverted into a kid in a candy shop :) I could spend an afternoon just smelling all the ranges! I eventually settled on 'Cranberry Ice' (it has a nice tang to it), 'Christmas Garland' (the most potpourri one of the group) and 'Candy Cane Lane' (a nice peppermint twist). I only bought the small jars as it takes me some time to get through a candle but they're a nice 'get ready for christmas' touch to my room :)

Ciate Advent Calendar

Again with the Christmas and its not quite December BUT this advent calendar is amazing :) I bought this Ciate Nail Varnish calendar in TKMAxx a few weeks ago, falling in love just not with the colours but also with the price (£19.99). I have dabbled with the Ciate range before but it will be good to stock up and try a few more :P

And thats it, another month gone! I can't believe how fast this time of year goes now! What have you enjoyed this November? Let me know in the comments :)

Weekly Update | 28.11.2014

Good Evening my leaves and Happy Friday!

How has your week been? I believe some of you had had thanksgiving? We had lots of sales today in the UK but my camera that I aspire to owning was unfortunately not on sale :( I shall keep looking though!

We've had a busy week at work this week so I made sure to take lots of time wandering around at the weekend. On one such gander I came across a beautiful sculpture which I will share with you all :)

I'm not too sure what it is or what its purpose/reason is but I found it very pretty :)

I've also started my christmas shopping this week, I can't believe we're four weeks away from christmas already! Have you got your plans sorted yet?

It's also that time of the month again where I reveal the theme for next month!

** Drum roll please **

December Decorations & Delights

DDD will be covering a few things you can craft and make at home as well as my own experiences with christmas, favourite activities and much more!

I hope you've all enjoyed November Appreciation & Aspiration, let me know your favourite posts in the comments :)

On that note I'm off to eat Cottage Pie for dinner yummy!

Have a lovely weekend!

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Dream BIG

Good Evening my leaves how are we all?

This is it. The final post for November Appreciation & Aspiration is here, lets go out with a BOOM!

How many times have you wanted to do something but you've then managed to find a bucketful of reasons why you can't do it? I can think of several times this has happened in the last month. Do you know why you do this? Personally it's my fear of failing. If I don't jump, I can't fall, right? This post is nudge both myself and you into gear. Its time to dream BIG.

The important part when you're dreaming is to ensure they are your own. We are always given nudges and ideas by those around us but if we don't want them ourselves we're less likely to strive and achieve them. Have a think about why you want to achieve the dreams you have, who will they make happy? How would you feel if you didn't achieve them?

To hopefully motivate you, and motivate myself further, I'm going to share some of my BIG dreams with you :) I have four key goals that I have set myself to achieve.

1. Earn an income from my blog.
To be able to live by doing what I love would be amazing. I see so many people working in jobs that they don't want to be doing and I don't want to be one of them. I work hard on my blog and get a lot of satisfaction from it. I aspire to it being successful (as do most bloggers). There's a lot of competition out there but I know I have the determination and I'm not going to let others wanting the same thing stop me from chasing my own dreams :)

2. Help others.
Another thing I enjoy is seeing other people change and feel more motivated and inspired. My parents always thought I would become a teacher because of this but I prefer other platforms and formats. I want people to want to listen to me instead of being a compulsory attendance :)

3. Build my own home.
Not necessarily from the ground and up but I aspire to being able to mould my home to the way I desire and want to live :) It doesn't need to be extravagant it just needs to be me :)

4. Be self-sufficient.
I always feel a bit frustrated at myself when I have to rely on other people financially. Perhaps its not liking being dependent on others in this way. Either way I would like to be able to earn enough to support myself and be able to live the lifestyle that I want :)

What goals have you set for yourself? Do you have steps in place to help you achieve them?

Make your own choices.

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Thankful for being able to express myself

Good Sunday my leaves, how are you today?

I can't believe this is the penultimate post for November Appreciation & Aspiration! Where has this month gone?! I hope you've had a lovely November too!

Today's post is fairly self-explanatory, appreciation for having a voice. There are so many stories on the news at the moment about people trying to be heard and horrifying news of those who couldn't be heard. Then there's the happier news of people actually succeeding in being heard. There are stigma's being challenged and awareness is being raised on important topics.

One important cause which you all probably know I'm behind is breaking the stigma around Mental Health. I can't believe how much everything has changed since I finished secondary school (2007) mental health is something that people are becoming more open about, some people even know a few facts about it now and the myths are slowly being beaten. This is fantastic! I know there's a long way to go but it makes me feel very happy to know that fewer people are having to avoid talking because they're scared of the reception they will receive. When I had my own struggles I baulked at the idea of going to a doctor, partly because I was scared, and partly because I've experienced doctors previously who basically said grow up (not in those words though!). Now I know that I could go to the majority of the doctors in this country if I had a problem and I would be heard!

Being in a society that allows you to have a voice is lovely :) There are so many platforms that you can do this now and it's not restricted to those perceived as 'famous'. I genuinely believe that there are platforms for everyone, in this country and some others, to communicate and express their views on. It no longer matters about your language or if you have a sense impairment. Anyone can see your views and opinions now :) Naturally, there are some countries that don't have this level of freedom or access but for myself and the country I'm in this is the case, hopefully it will be for others soon too!

Speaking of expression, my own is my blog. I do have a twitter account but I find it restrictive in the character limit ^^, saying that it does get used (shameless plug for @chezautumn)...  Anyhoo, my blog.  I still have a long way to go but that's cool as I'm enjoying the journey and I have lots planned  :) I can't wait for it to be at the point where you can see my blog and videos once they're going :) I want to help each and every one of you and give you all a big squish! :) Ahh one can dream...

I hope you all are appreciating and making the most of your voice :) What are you using your voice to achieve? Let me know in the comments down below :)

Make your own choices.

Weekly Update | 21.11.2014

Good Friday my leaves,

How are we all today? I had today off from work yet I fell I've been extra unproductive! Being home alone has made me more pensive today too!

I've got 'Fast Forward Music' on in the background and it's serving as great motivation so far! Do you find that there's a type of music that motivates you to get up and do something?

I feel a bit rubbish with myself this week. I shall start from the beginning. I spend my weekends and most evenings browsing through peoples written creations, always looking for that something that makes me go 'yes'. I came across a blog written that was requesting guest bloggers. This was a new term for me and upon reading further I thought it would be a great way to write something different to the monthly theme and at the same time I would be able raise awareness for my own blog and also hopefully help another's attract readers. I don't mean that I think my blog is all singing and dancing or even that this other blog needed any help, so please don't read this in that way.

I emailed the blog owner and said that I would be interested in writing a piece for them but that I was stuck as to content; did they want a big post? A review? A wish list? A countdown? The blogger happily emailed me and said that they were hoping for something around 'Christmas' be it a wish list, a post on thinking of others or something else.

As I started to plan out my post anxiety reared its head. How on earth was I going to write something good enough for their blog? If I mess up on my own blog only I suffer, I didn't want someone else to feel that they were obligated to publish something that they felt was poor quality. What about their readers? What if my post was enough to put them off returning?

This festered away at me for a few days. I wallowed. Something I'm not proud to say. Why was I getting so worked up? I ended up emailing the blog owner to say that I couldn't write the post and I apologised. I felt so angry with myself. I had passed up an amazing opportunity and the task wasn't something I was unfamiliar with.

The blog owner hasn't responded to my email. I can understand why. I would feel frustrated too if I had planned a spot for guest post for them to pull out. I'd feel stressed that I would need to now create a post with less planning and time.

I like the saying 'If it's for you, it won't go past you' but what about when you push it past? I know there will be other opportunities in future and maybe I will have a better method for then. I always advocate making your own choices and this is no exception. I didn't let myself continue and get pressured which would have led to an appalling piece. If you are the blog owner in question, I'm sorry. I hope you understand. If you don't, that's fine too.

Now the task is to look ahead. Its always best not to dwell on the 'could have beens' or you will miss the 'can bes'.

I'm going to finish this post on a positive note though! I accepted a challenge from a poet, he told me to aim for 1,000 views a month by January. We're three weeks into November and I've hit 1,000 :) I couldn't be happier. I don't know who you all are, or why you visit my blog but I would like to say thank you. As well as my own enjoyment you are becoming a motivating factor and spur me on when I'm feeling unmotivated!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and, as always, make your own choices.

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Helping Others

Good Wednesday my leaves, how are we today?

My week has been very hectic so far but I have Friday off Wahoo! There's lots of bugs making the rounds at work so hopefully I'm not going to spend the three day weekend being ill *crosses fingers*

Back to reality, I have seen that a lot of you really liked the post from Sunday (in which I encouraged you to have a little perspective) which is good. Today's post is going to look at what little-old-you can do to help!

Society has taught us, or rather encouraged us, to think that we either have to be a very successful and famous person or someone with a heck of a lot of drive to be able to affect change in this world. This is a very warped way of thinking in my opinion! This week I will have reached 1000 views in a month on my blog. I'm not famous, and although I'm determined I couldn't say that I eat, breathe and sleep my blog. Yet that's 1000 views of me and my voice trying to help people feel a little better about themselves. I think that's phenomenal! When I think that this all properly started with me doing 'August Awareness' and I was dancing over 100 views in a month, it was and still is insane.

There are lots of little things you can do to make a big difference. If there's a cause that you want to support you could make a donation (however small), or raise money doing a challenge or even volunteer and help to raise awareness! If you see someone on the street you could give them some change or just acknowledge them instead of trying to hurry past looking guilty. You could give your seat to the person who looks like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. Make small talk at the bus stop. Open a door for someone with their arms full. Lend an ear to a friend or colleague who looks like they just need someone to hear them. We've all been on the other side and likely the receiving end of one of these actions. Remember how it made you feel ! :) It's not about recognition, don't feel disheartened if you're not drowned in gratitude!

REMEMBER! Its also not about money all the time! Have you ever heard the saying that 'smiles are contagious'? It's very true! I always start my day with the mental challenge of finding someone on my way to work to give a chipper 'Good Morning' and a smile. It may make you feel a little silly at first but think about it. Someone has just walked past you and out of the blue wished you a good morning. You may think they're bonkers but in your head your brain is focussing on the smile and making you think happy thoughts :) You're then more likely to smile at someone else and so on and so forth. (Again Lord Farquaad has jumped into my head...). So, yeah, go out and show the world your pearly whites :) you might just make a very big difference with your little ripple! ^^,

Let me know down in the comments what you've done or plan to do :) Maybe your comment will inspire someone else? Or help them see that there are good actions and people in the world :)

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Thankful for my situation

Good Evening my Leaves,

How has your Sunday been? It's been a grey and drizzly day here! It's days like these that make me feel very lucky and thankful for my situation. I'm sat here in my pyjamas (it's 14.30!) with a snuggly blanket and a fully stocked fridge!

I find that we tend to be a society that focuses on a lot of luxurious items and view them as a necessity.  This post isn't intended to make you feel bad for being lucky, it is hopefully just going to be a little reminder of how lucky we are to be in our current situation and add a little perspective.

1. Internet

If you're reading this post, you have access to the internet. You can view a plethora of resources that help you in every imaginable situation. You really have no limit to what you want to learn. If you have a question that you don't want to ask out loud, the answer is likely to be on the internet. The internet can connect you to like minded people, you can join and form your own communities, location isn't an issue. I imagine that, like me, you actually spend a lot of your internet time on unproductive sites instead but you have that option, always there.

2. Job

I have a job. I get to keep my earnings (after house and food bills). I'm allowed to choose where I work and what I do. These facts alone are things we should be grateful for. You may not work yet but, when you do, you will be able to have a choice, you won't have to give all your money to someone else. You won't be told that your gender stops you (few roles are gender specified now).

3. Relationships

Another thing to be thankful, everyday, for are my relationships. I live at home in a non abusive environment. I'm not in a relationship that is negatively impacting me or those around me. I have a network of friends that I know I can rely on, and I'm there for them. We motivate each other to be the best we can be. Relationships are something that we take for granted everyday. Make sure those around you know how appreciative you are of them :)

4. Location

Now, I have moved locations a few times over the last few years, some of them I haven't felt overly safe in but it's not like I've been living in a place of war. I've always had a roof over my head and heating, access to water, food and a means of cooking it. I'm even luckier in that, if I don't feel like cooking, I can request food be delivered to my house!

So, on that note, go out and be grateful. Stop complaining over things that, in the bigger picture, are insignificant. I've started to write in a notepad each day of all the positive things that haven't today. When that doesn't work I will look back on this post and remind myself that life is about so much more!

What are you grateful for?

Make your own choices.

Weekly Update | 14.11.2014

Hello my Leaves,

How has your week been? :)

Mine has been pretty darn, tooting, dandy :) I've had a very busy week at work which has made the days all blur together and we've just started a really exciting project too so it's all hands on deck!

I did remember to honour my two minutes silence on Armistice day (11.11.2014) which marked 100 years since WWI began. Sitting there thinking about all those who had fought where there lives as a stake is quite overwhelming. There are still people do this everyday whilst we run around worrying about things that would pale in comparison.  Do you have a remembrance day in your country? What do you do to honour your soldiers?

Tonight is 'Children In Need' night which is another great cause. More information about it can be found here. I even made today's blog picture to reflect the eye patch for Pudsey Bear

A lot of you have been reading my posts from both Sunday and Wednesday this week. I hope the career plan chat on Wednesday and hasn't made you retreat under the duvet further!! How have you been finding November Appreciation and Aspiration?

I've been enjoying writing the posts so I hope they have been worthy for you too!

I had almost forgotten about Saturday's fun!! I went to a Bonfire & Fireworks Display!! (The 5th November is remembered as the day that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the English parliament!)

I always love this time of year and especially Firework displays. I just find something so calming in the fact that all age ranges gather and share the experience of the 'oohs' and 'aaahs' together :) There are so few opportunities for everyone to gather these days! I had a mild surge of anxiety during the display but this was quickly overcome as the Catherine Wheels were set off, spiralling my worry away! :)

Ooh, whilst I remember, I've ale joined Bloglovin so you can now search and find me on there :) If you haven't already done so, click the little 'follow' button ;) It sends me warm fuzzy feelings each time a new leaf joins/comments on my blog :)

Anyhoo, I'm going to leave you to enjoy your Friday :)

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Aspiration: Figuring out your career

Good Evening/Afternoon/Morning my Leaves,

Happy Wednesday! How are you feeling now that we're in the middle of the week? Is it going well? Either way tomorrow is a new day and a new opportunity :)

As you may be able to tell from my sickly chirpy tone, I passed my work review this week. The job I am in at present has a trial period for anyone who joins the company. This is for three months and I had my meeting this week to say that I had passed, yippee!

It ties in rather nicely with my plan for today's post 'Aspiration: Figuring out your career'. Now to begin with, note that I have said career. This post isn't about getting a job per se, it's about planning the route to your dream role. For a small percentage of you, you will already be in this role, to that I say 'Wow, I'm ever so jealous and I hope it continues to be perfect for you'. For the rest of us, it's time to make a plan.

Why bother?

With a plan you are less likely to encounter unpleasant obstacles. You are less likely to be sat unemployed for a long period of time. You're more likely to be in a career you enjoy. Finally, let's face it, it's kind of silly not to...

Yes, more beautiful paint work by myself ^^ :

There are 3 major things you need to consider when you're making your career plan:

1. Money
2. Enjoyment
3. Location

These 3 points need to be the first that you look at. It's a good idea to rank them in importance to you before you begin, this can be a tough one but be honest.

Got them in order?

With this order you can now add a few more details, so, what amount of money would you like to earn at the height of your career? What do you enjoy doing? Or even, what do you NOT want to do? How are far are you willing to travel? Would you like to travel frequently? Would you want to live in this location or commute for the week?

Feeling calmer?

Don't worry if you find yourself with a list longer than your torso, it's natural. What you can do at this point is prioritise your notes. e.g. I don't enjoy travelling but I could do it if....? This helps to really whittle down your list until you are left with a much shorter list. Remember, this doesn't have to be done in a day or even a week, you can add little bits and amend this list as much as you want.

Hopefully this list is starting to give you an idea of which career you would suit. If it doesn't there are plenty of career sites and services out there that can help, no matter your age. I personally liked 'Prospects' which is mainly targeted at graduates. Saying that, I also really enjoyed 'careertest.net' (scroll down until you see 'take the test'), followed by 'personality page' which helped me to anchor down on what I really want. I did a post earlier in the year about my personality type which you can find here :) (This is the second post I did *shudders at lack of colour*)

WARNING!! All these sites aren't you, it's important to remember that although they provide suggestions it doesn't mean that you can't aim and achieve something else!

Anyhoo, from there you can start to look at other factors such as:

1. What qualifications will I need to be able to do this role?
2. Longevity and when do I want to retire?
3. Reality

This is where you need to start making a plan. Be realistic, the chances of you walking into a £100k job are pretty slim to none. You will need to account for time studying, taking time out for a family (if you wish to), climbing the ladder and the reality. I.e. If you have decided you want to be a brain surgeon but have had an eye operation, you are unlikely to be able to do this so may need a plan B.

In my own case, I would love to be a successful blogger who can make her own schedule, go to movie premieres, provide talks to people and have a nice savings pot and income. Facing reality, although I really enjoy blogging and hope this comes true I actually have a plan B , C and D. I'm enjoying my full time job because I made a plan of what I want to achieve and targeted roles that will help me get there when looking for a job. Blogging is a wonderful hobby but I am also content with my job. I'm not sat at work everyday wondering why I'm there or why my blogging isn't raking in money. I'm focusing on my plan and re-evaluating what I need to do and where I'm at.

My word this has turned into quite a long Wednesday post!!

I hope I haven't bored you to tears or started a meltdown! Let me know in the comments if this has been helpful (at all) and what you want to do for a career! Or, maybe you already have your dream job? Why not share your experience with us and provide any useful things you learnt along the way? :)

Make your own choices my leaves,

Toodelpip xx

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Appreciation for my Friends

Hello my Leaves,

I would just like to start today's post by letting you know that I am now on Bloglovin :) If you could follow me and spread the word that would be lovely :)

How are you finding November Appreciation & Aspiration so far? I'm finding it a challenge to get onto screen what I'm visualising in my mind, I think I've cracked it, or just cracked, for todays post though :)

Today is all about appreciating the nutters and loveable rogues that we call our second family, friends. It can certainly be said that you certainly miss and appreciate things more when you're not as close to them. Moving counties has proved this to be the case for me!

I see my own friendship circle as being similar to a pattern of concentric circles and that's how I'm going to  show my appreciation today. Just call me a 'paint' genius!

If we treat the butterflies as representing 'x' amount of people I should be able to explain it ^^. To start with all the butterflies that are not on a ring are people I haven't met yet. The majority of them I will never meet as the world is far too large!

The Inner Circle

The innermost ring to 'Me' are the people the closest to me. These are the friends that I have been in touch with for years and are trusted with a whole heap of embarrassing and emotional stories. They're the ones who you know you can pick up the phone and call at any point and they will be there for you. It takes a long time for people to reach this circle for me and that is why there are so few butterflies there. These friends are the ones that I feel completely safe and myself with. I always feel that the world is conquerable when they're around and, when I'm not near them, I can still imagine what they would say in situations I encounter and it makes everything a little easier. We've all lent on each other at some point in our lives but we accept that there are things that we each have to do which takes us a little further away. I don't know if I would be the person I am today if it wasn't for these people and for that I appreciate them and say 'Thank You'.

The Middle Circle

The middle circle is constantly changing. For me, this is the circle of friends who you meet up with but perhaps aren't always your truest self around. These are the people that don't know a lot about me but see me often. So, for example, people I work with. I see them on a regular basis but I'm not about to go into my entire life history with them. This is the 'Facebook' ring too. I don't necessarily have their most up to date phone number but I can catch up with them on other media, such as Facebook. I tend to dip people in and out out of this ring from time to time, sometimes it's to see if they would fit into the inner ring but in most cases this doesn't happen. This is also the ring I learn a lot of lessons with. These are the people that you begin to trust as you interact with them regularly. A danger for me is thinking these people are in the inner ring when actually, they're really not. This always leads to me feeling a bit stupid for over-sharing and reminds me that the world is full of many personalities and types of people. I'm sure you will all have an image in your mind of someone that has taught you this lesson, hopefully not the hard way! In a way I really appreciate this ring, as it's the one you tend to learn the most from.

The Outer Circle

The outer circle is people that I would recognise and say 'hi' to but I wouldn't feel comfortable going up to them and inviting them somewhere. I tend to collect tit bits of information about this group and use it to build better relationships with them. It may stay at that point or they may move in a circle or be out all together. One constant outer ring friendship I have is with a shop worker; I go in on a regular basis and have a little chat at the till and then go about my day. It's unlikely that they will ever go into a closer ring but I also doubt I would talk to them if I saw them outside of that situation. I appreciate this ring as it makes me feel more comfortable in unknown or stressful environments. It's almost as if they are practice for me for social situations, if I can build a rapport with a complete stranger, I feel more comfortable.

Wow, this has turned into quite a ramble! I hope you've enjoyed this post and that it's made you have a think about your own friendship groups and where you would place people. If, after reading this post, you think I'm a complete crackpot then that's OK too. This is how I, someone who loves structure and routine, organise my mind. Moving has definitely made me re-evaluate the 'rings' and it's been slightly painful to watch people not respond to your messages and accept that I am in a different ring to where they were on mine. Either way, I have learnt many lessons in my 24 years and I can guarantee I will learn many more!

Anyway, comment below if you wish, share this post if you think it will help/amuse someone else and subscribe/follow if you would like to hear more :)

Make your own choices.

Weekly Update | 7.11.2014

It's 19.26 on Friday.

I have been staring at this screen for so long trying to decide what to share this week without boring you half to death or giving you a breakdown/ putting you in a funk...

I'll start with the positives.

1.  I've started making videos on YouTube (casual plug). I have lots of ideas about what I want to do but, for now, it's largely rambles.

2. I've been making steps towards getting a handle on anxiety. I don't want to say eliminate because I don't believe you ever can, we're human after all.

3. My blog has been running for 6 months now, confirmed by the little adsense button now being available. I shall add figuring it all out to my to do list.

4. I've been having lots of warm fuzzy feelings due to you. :) You've all been supportive of my blog and even gave one post 150 views in 12 hours! I don't know if I would have gotten to this point if it wasn't for your supportive emails and comments.

5. I've, maybe foolishly, decided to set myself an insane, but hopefully obtainable goal for the future. It's on YouTube, I'll let you air your opinion on it ^^.

6. I've managed to do 2 and a half hours of dancing throughout this week, it's been a wonderful, and healthy, distraction.

The not so positives.

1. I've had several opportunities this week to do social activities but I've opted not to.

2. I've watched a few videos that have triggered me into a borderline funk.

3. No. 2. has now led me to be extra observant and irrational about my mental health. I'm fine and I know it but my brain needs convincing.

4. I don't have a good feeling about my probation meeting at work, they decide after three months whether to keep you and I have a nagging blue cloud over my head :/

How has your week been? Have you had lots of positives? I'm going to clean my weekly slate from tomorrow and focus on the new week :) I'm looking forward to going to a firework display tomorrow and I hope it doesn't rain too heavily!

Sorry if this post has been a bit 'meh' I promise it won't happen often! (It's a realistic promise :) I can't promise that it will never happen!)

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Beating Anxiety

Hello my leaves, happy hump day!

Ahhhh it's Bonfire night :) I'm going to a display on Saturday which will be a nice challenge but I'm so excited too :) Boom! Fizz! Crackle!

So, this week I was supposed to be talking about something else (I have a schedule and everything ^^) but I decided to make a change.

I flicked a switch at the weekend after pushing my boundaries on my anxiety (I'm aspiring to beat it) and I wanted to share this experience with you. I also, decided to document it as a way of keeping motivated by my progress, so here's the video:

It's not the best quality video you will see but it will keep me motivated. I hope to continue documenting my progress so that I can see the progress mostly but also to inspire and motivate you to push your own boundaries. Everyone will have something holding them back, its human. Some of you will be being held back by something that is affecting how you interact with reality. This video is for you. I felt such a rush at pushing the boundary and not having an onslaught of suffering as a consequence. Yes I was terrified and close to tears before I went out, but I did it. I had company with me to help keep on track and that was a massive support. I always fear that something will happen to me and was reassured by their presence.

Anyhoo, here's my challenge for you.

You don't have to tell me what it is but I want you to think about something that you are fearing. I want you to make a tiny step towards conquering it and I want you to write down how you felt after. It doesn't matter whether you succeed in taking that step, I just want to know that you at least tried and began the step.

Let me know how it goes :)

November Appreciation & Aspiration | Thankful for my family

Good Evening my Leaves,

I can't believe we are in November already! Did you have a good October?

This is the first post of November Appreciation & Aspiration so I thought I would start off by acknowledging my appreciation for my family.

Everyone's family is different and I think we all like to think that ours is different to everyone else's. Everyone has the family members that keep to themselves, the embarrassing auntie/uncle and the crazy cousins. They all have their unique qualities and you will find that you will need/use/show some of each at a point in your life.

My own family are scattered across the world and we have many levels with step family and adopted members adding to the tree.

With everyone living across the map it can be challenging finding time to see everyone, especially as there are too many step members for us to all come together for Christmas. Once you factor in my anxiety with travelling on top of that it gets very challenging.

I don't see my family anywhere near as much as I would like to and this is something that frustrates me a lot. This is one of the reasons why I'm working on beating my anxiety. I don't live somewhere where family can visit so it's for me to travel to them. My dad has some challenges with anxiety too so we help each other.

My family have been very supportive with my relocation and my battle with anxiety and I couldn't ask for anything more. Despite being scattered we always find the time to Skype, or email, or chat on the phone.

I suppose the point I'm trying to make here is that you don't have to live in close proximity of your family to receive and provide support. Your family are yours alone and there is no reason to compare it to another's. Your family don't have to be blood relatives either. You may have close friends that have become integrated as another branch to your family and that's fine. At the end of the day, your family form the first support network you will experience, show them a little appreciation; make plans to visit, or arrange a meal or even just send them a quick email/text to let them know that you're there despite not being there physically.

How do you feel about your own family? Do you appreciate them for their quirks and differences?

I hope you've liked the first November post, don't forget to subscribe for more :)
